The "gift of tongues" is one of the great charisms of the Holy Spirit. The
bible teaches us that at Pentecost the eleven apostles were together, and "All
of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as
the Spirit enabled them." (Acts 2:4) There is every reason to believe that
Mary was there with them and that she, too, spoke in tongues. To speak in tongues is to pray in God's own language. Those who pray in tongues will tell you that it is powerful prayer; they say this because of results observed by them. People who pray over others for their healing usually pray in tongues if they know how. But you can pray in tongues for any good purpose. Unless you receive the "gift of tongues" in an unusual manner, you must be taught it. The gift of tongues workshop teaches the who, why, when, where, and how of "praying in tongues."
